Since 2010 Vireo has carried out sustainability verification and certification activities through transparent audits, according to recognized standards, and within defined timelines.

The history of Vireo

Vireo is founded as a company specialising in environmental certification, initiating its first collaborations with the Soil Association for FSC® and PEFC certification.

2010

Vireo begins collaborating with Acoura Marine Ltd to provide services related to Marine Stewardship Council™ and Aquaculture Stewardship Council™ certifications, thereby expanding its expertise in the fields of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.

2011

The company becomes a certification partner of Interface for FSC, PEFC, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, certifying over 300 companies under the FSC Chain of Custody and expanding its scope of operations across Europe.

2017

Vireo obtains official accreditation from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), becoming one of the few bodies in the world authorised to certify hotels and tourism operators.

2018

The company expands its presence in South-East Asia.

2020

Vireo SouthEast Asia is officially established, the result of a partnership with Malaysia and Singapore that expands the company’s international presence abroad. In the same year, Vireo certifies its first GSTC destination (Valsugana) and opens the Bolzano office, dedicated to services for sustainable tourism.

2021

Vireo awards the GSTC certification to the city-state of Singapore as a sustainable destination.

2023

Vireo further expands its international presence with the opening of Vireo UK.

2024

Two new strategic partnerships are consolidated: Vireo China and Vireo Japan, further strengthening the company's internationalisation project.

GoodAuditing stands for rigorous and constructive audits, carried out by experienced auditors committed to continuous training. A professional and collaborative approach that, in addition to ensuring accurate verifications, provides ongoing dialogue with a certification manager and a cohesive team, always available to offer support and share insights.

Our initiatives

Bosco Vireo

In 2024, as part of the Bosco Vireo project, we planted fruit trees and native species on a plot of land in Conselve: a small step towards restoring nature in an area heavily exploited by intensive agriculture.

Metis Vela

We support the University of Padua’s sailing team, which promotes research and sustainability in the field of sailing. The Metis Vela project brings together innovation, engineering, and respect for the environment, in line with the values that guide each of our certifications.

Puliamo il Mare

With the “Puliamo il Mare” initiative, launched in the Aeolian Islands archipelago in partnership with Nautica Santa Marina, we encourage boaters to take care of marine waters by providing a kit to collect floating waste during navigation. A simple yet concrete action to protect marine ecosystems and promote a shared culture of environmental responsibility.

Vireo in the World

From our headquarters in Padua, we operate internationally through our offices in Vireo Südtirol, Vireo UK, Vireo SouthEast Asia, Vireo Japan and Vireo China. This presence allows us to manage multiple certification schemes using the same methodology, applying the same standards and ensuring centralized coordination.
